Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major global health threat associated with extensive morbidity and mortality in humans and animals. The work at the Slizovskiy Laboratory of Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance Research (LIDAAR) addresses this challenge by developing sequencing, computational, and statistical tools to characterize and predict risks of AMR in bacteria found within human, animal, food, and environmental microbiomes. Utilizing these results, we work on deploying microbiome-level interventions to de-escalate AMR pressure and related health sequelae.
